However, against all odds, this plucky animated adventure has not only survived but thrived. Originally entering development as early as 2015, Nimona faced certain extinction after being bought out and quickly shut down by Disney during the coronavirus pandemic. As the two try to clear Boldheart's name, they'll uncover a grand conspiracy amid finding their place in the world. When Ballister Boldheart (Riz Ahmed) is framed for a crime he didn't commit, he is visited by Nimona (Chloë Grace Moretz), a shape-shifting teen who faced similar persecution. Based on the comic series by ND Stevenson, Nimona tells an unconventional futuristic fantasy tale with an equally unique protagonist.
